Stephen R. Henshaw, P.G.
President & CEO

Stephen Henshaw-PresidentWith over 20 years of experience, Mr. Henshaw holds professional geology registrations in numerous states. As President and CEO of EnviroForensicsョ , Mr. Henshaw serves as a client and technical manager on projects associated with site characterization, remedial design, remedial implementation and operation, and litigation support and insurance coverage matters. He has acted as Project Manager or Client Manager on over 200 projects. These projects have included landfills, solvent and petroleum refineries, foundries, metal plating shops, food processors, wood treating facilities, chemical manufacturers and distributors, mines and quarries, heavy equipment manufacturers, computer manufacturers, and transporters. He has experience in a variety of geological settings including soft sediments, fractured bedrock, glacial outwash, wetlands, and landslides. Mr. Henshaw has also conducted extensive work in environmentally sensitive areas inhabited by endangered species. Mr. Henshaw's expertise includes a strong knowledge of industrial operations, past and current industry practices and procedures, and a hands-on, practical understanding of the fate and transport of contaminants in soil and groundwater. He has also served as a testifying expert on behalf of individual landowners and facility operators at several sites impacted by industrial activities and continues to provide technical and litigation support services.

John C. Bird, P.G.
Vice President

Mr. Bird is a California Professional Geologist with over 20 years of professional experience. He is currently serving as Vice President. Responsible for developing the overall work scope, budget and project tracking, John conducts technical management on several multimillion dollar RI/FS projects involving numerous PRPs under adverse litigious conditions. Mr. Bird's background includes extensive project experience on large scale, NCP compliant investigations for the public and private sector. He has worked closely in developing community outreach programs, Restoration Advisory Boards (RABs), Technical Review Committees, and other community relations' activities. With experience in the completion of CERCLA waste removal actions, RCRA oversight/permitting and closure activities and performance of health and ecological risk assessments, John also works with smaller projects involving small businesses, developers and contractors. With many publications and presentations to his credit, Mr. Bird was formerly President of Magellan Environmental, Inc., Vice President of Henshaw Associates, Inc., Program Manager for Versar, Inc., Project Manager for PRA Group/E2C, and Staff Geologist for JHA/BSK.

Greg Zumbaugh, P.E./CHMM
Regional Manager, Midwest

Mr. Zumbaugh has over 15 years of experience in a variety of areas including solid and hazardous waste management; remedial system design; storm water management, spill prevention and contingency plans; air permitting; waste water treatment audits; risk management plan development and implementation; underground storage tank removal and closure; and audits and real estate property assessments. Additionally, he specializes in Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) facility audits, facility environmental.

Krishna V. Mayenkar, P.E.
Senior Project Manager

Mr. Mayenkar has nearly 30 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, groundwater and soil cleanup, and industrial waste management. He has been responsible for process development, project management, and providing technical guidance and quality control for several national environmental engineering firms. Mr. Mayenkar was responsible for the development of two patented processes: Removal of toxic metals from water and wastewater using iron filings, and generating potable water from oily ballast water. Mr. Mayenkar has provided expert witness testimony in legal proceedings related to groundwater remediation and authored several papers about water quality assessment, industrial waste management, hazardous waste treatment and disposal, and groundwater and soil cleanup.
Mr. Mayenkar has completed numerous water, wastewater and groundwater treatment facility design and compliance projects. As part of these projects, he has developed an extensive understanding of the processes, regulations, safety and risk factors associated with the system design. Key factors include developing proper process design parameters, facility layouts, consideration of OSHA and NFPA regulations, spill prevention and control, best management practices, risk management and prevention plans, storm water pollution prevention, emergency and contingency plans, water quality control and safe operating and monitoring practices. Mr. Mayenkar also has extensive experience with varieties of water and wastewater treatment processes including sedimentation, coagulation, mixing, clarification, gravity and pressure filtration, demineralization, dissolved air flotation, carbon absorption, UV disinfection, ozonation, chlorination, reverse osmosis, aerobic and anaerobic biological processes, chemical precipitation and sludge handling and dewatering.

Joel Morales, M.S.
Regional Manager, Puerto Rico

Mr. Morales is a geologist with primary environmental consulting experience in proposal preparation, site assessments, environmental drilling, soil & water sampling, and installation, operation and maintenance of soil vapor extraction systems for soil remediation. As a skilled project manager, Mr. Morales has managed and coordinated field operations, laboratory, project activities schedule, personnel, and report preparation for an ongoing quarterly groundwater-sampling event consisting of more than 35 wells monitoring in the intermediate and deep zone aquifers of Chico, CA. He brings his experience in environmental engineering and groundwater drilling to Puerto Rico.

David O'Neill, J.D.
Director of Investigations, Insurance Archeology

David O'Neill has 15 years of experience in claims recovery on behalf of corporate policyholders involving environmental property damage and toxic tort and asbestos exposure claims. He is an accomplished insurance archaelogist with extensive experience in locating and retrieving insurance coverage evidence on behalf of PRPs responding to environmental investigation and remediation demands. Mr. O'Neill is also an experienced PRP investigator with knowledge of CERCLA/SARA requirements, having conducted over thirty PRP searches at Superfund hazardous waste sites for PRP defense counsel and previously as a contractor with USEPA Regions V and VIII. Mr. O'Neill was formerly Insurance Risk Manager for Risk International. He graduated from Case Western Reserve Law School.

Eric S. Lewis, L.P.G.
Senior Geologist

Mr. Lewis has over ten years of experience in environmental consulting, costing, design, pilot testing, implementation and management of many large-scale investigation and remediation projects for private clients, local municipalities and state agencies. Some of these investigation and remedial tasks include: surface water, ground water and soil sampling; underground storage tank removal; stepped rate aquifer tests; monitoring and recovery well sighting, installation and development; and land surveys.
Mr. Lewis has extensive experience with the following remedies: ground water pump and treat, bioremediations, soil vapor extraction, high vacuum/total fluid extraction, air sparge and soil excavation. Mr. Lewis also has experience with several drilling methodologies such as hollow stem auger, air and mud rotary, ODEX, TUBEX, Sonice and hydraulic percussion.

Pinaki Banarjee, Ph.D./M.S.
Principal Scientist

With a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and an additional M.S. in Physics, Dr. Banarjee has managed over 50 human health and ecological risk assessment projects in the past 20 years. For these projects, Dr. Banerjee develops risk estimates regarding exposure to contaminated groundwater, surface water, and soil by conducting screening level risk analyses. In addition, Dr. Banerjee has conducted fate and transport evaluations at over 100 sites. He has managed remediation projects and compliance monitoring projects and evaluates the effectiveness of innovative treatment technologies. With extensive experience in the development and implementation of multi-media sampling, Dr. Banarjee is qualified and trained by the EPA and US Army in a number of laboratory, risk assessment and landfill specialty areas.
